bias in Physics
A steady DC voltage applied across a p-n junction or transistor to set how it conducts.
In forward bias, the p-side is joined to the positive terminal, the depletion layer narrows and current flows. In reverse bias, the connections are swapped, the depletion layer widens and current nearly stops.

En polarisation directe, le côté p est relié à la borne positive, la zone de déplétion s'amincit et le courant passe. En inverse, les branchements sont échangés, la zone s'élargit et le courant s'arrête presque.
